“And yet women-good women–frightened me because they eventually wanted your soul, and what was left of mine, I wanted to keep.”
― Charles Bukowski
Bukowski is my favorite author. He writes without fear, without shame, about a lot of things that I think about quite often. His writing is uncensored and thought-provoking.
This quotation is from my favorite Bukowski book, Women. I read it back when I was in Colorado and I fell in love with it. This quotation has become relevant because the idea of dating a “good woman” does frighten me. Giving my soul over to someone else involves commitment, involves trust, and those are things that take a long time for me to build.
